citypass-paris.com is an independent comparison site for the passes sold for a Paris visit. They are not all the same kind of product. The Paris Museum Pass was created in 1988 by the museums and monuments themselves and is run by their association, interMusées; it is sold for two, four or six days and opens more than fifty sites. The Paris Pass and the Paris Explorer Pass come from Go City, the Paris City Pass and the Paris Flex Pass from Turbopass. The city of Paris issues none of them.

That difference in ownership decides more than any price list. interMusées takes no profit on its pass, the proceeds go back to the museums, and the pass does one thing: it opens a fixed list of national museums and monuments for a run of consecutive days, with no selection to make and nothing else attached. The commercial passes are assembled the other way round, as a curated basket that puts the towers, the cruises and the bus tours next to a few museums and is redeemed attraction by attraction. So the useful question is which Paris you have actually booked. Six days of the Louvre, Orsay, the Sainte-Chapelle and Versailles are a museum instrument. A long weekend of the Eiffel Tower, a Seine cruise and one big collection is not, and frequently needs no pass at all. We compare the lists, the durations and the reservation rules pass by pass.
